It’s the little habits that make the biggest difference

When I work with clients, one of the first things we talk about is daily habits.

One of those habits is bedtime and morning routines, and even in more detail, about cell phone use during that time.

I recommend to folks to stay off technology 30 minutes before going to bed and 30 minutes after waking (at least).

Why? Because technology most often engages the fight and flight mode of the brain – it releases adrenaline into the body. This doesn’t do well if you want to sleep well or feel more peaceful throughout your day.

It’s also unhealthy for your body to sleep near technology as it gives off electromagnetic radiation that goes through the blood brain barrier which affects focus, clarity and mood (that’s also why it’s best to not hold the phone to your ear when speaking).

A client shared with me last week how just this simple change in her daily routine made a big difference. As someone who works an 8 to 5 job, she relies on an alarm in the morning to start her day.

She had been using her cell phone alarm. It would go off, she’d tap snooze (a few times), and then, as she said, drag herself out of bed after looking at texts and emails that had come in and have just enough time to get to work.

I made the recommendation that she keep all technology out of her bedroom and use a different alarm.

She found one that awakens her through light – isn’t that cool?!

Since starting this simple change, she experienced an immediate shift. She began to wake up more energized (and not needing to hit the snooze), and felt called to wake up earlier and earlier.

Now she’s up 1 hour earlier, spending that time meditating and doing creative projects instead of dragging herself out of bed just making it to work.

What a difference one habit made for her!

I asked her if I could share her story because it’s so prevalent in today’s world to be in the cell phone waking habit that she was in.

Healthy habits are key to creating peace and contentment, they are key in coming home to your true self, they are key to raising your vibrational frequency, they are key toknowing who you truly are.

You don’t need to go off to India and live in a cave to feel less anxious or more joyful. It’s the little things.

You’re reading this because you’re called to be your best self, you’re called to be your true self of love and gratitude, you’re called to know Spirit/God/Source, you’re called to befree of fear.

Start with changing one habit today that isn’t serving this higher calling. Perhaps it’s cell phone or TV habits, perhaps it’s eating habits, perhaps it’s patterns of thinking that aren’t serving you.

You’ll know, because when you do the habit you feel a heaviness or a drain on your energy. Your body knows. It will tell you. Your heart knows. It will tell you.

I’m here supporting you and cheering you on. Your highest self is needed in this world and your soul is calling you! Are you ready to hear it?
